Fort-La-Latte is located on
Brittany's northern coast, just a few minutes away from Cap Fréhel.
The fort became famous in 1957 when the American director Richard Fleischer
decided to film his famous "The Vikings" there, starring Kirk Douglas and
Tony Curtis.
In one of the movie's most spectacular scenes, an army of Vikings storms
and captures the fortress (which was actually supposed to be in Scotland).
The final battle scene takes place atop the dungeon. The two chiefs (Kirk
and Tony) fight an epic duel there.
The scene is shot at an altitude of over 60 meters.

Construction of the castle began in the 13th century. It was built on the
remains of a still-older castle belonging to the Guyon-Matignon clan.
Later, the fort was modified in order to install an artillery batallion .
With its ideal position, Fort-La-Latte protected the Bay de la Fresnaye
from the attack of English ships over the years.
The castle is private property (really !!!!), It can
be visited from April until the end of the summer.
